Vehicle Installation Technician
The Cruisers Division – Mamaroneck, NY
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The position will primarily be responsible for the installation of hardware and electrical components. Responsibilities include the ability to use variety of hand and powered tools, read written and receive verbal instructions, assemble various assemblies, efficiently wire multi-component electrical systems to quality standards, and perform design/development on the fly. The installer must be able to setup and operate all equipment with minimal (if any) assistance, must have a high level of communication to ensure critical jobs are done as expected by the customer, and will be required to contribute to process improvements necessary to maintain a viable and efficient service.
- Read vehicle build sheets, pull the correct equipment, material, tooling, and determine processes to efficiently follow out build requirements.
- Perform work required to produce/fit/repair items utilizing on-hand equipment and company-approved processes.
- Perform setup, operation, and troubleshooting of all vehicle OEM and aftermarket systems.
- Determine parts and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals with maximum efficiency.
- Perform work that involves a high mental application and close visual attention for extended periods of time with the possibility of exposure to hazardous conditions.
- Possess an understanding of basic electricity/electrical circuitry, basic mechanical and electrical tooling, and vehicle electrical system fundamentals.
- Possess and utilize strong methodical problem-solving skills to drive to the root cause of issues and implementation of corrective actions (i.e., strong troubleshooting aptitude).
- Communicate effectively with all personnel, couriers, and customers.
- Willing and qualified to operate passenger vehicles both locally and within day-trip distances.
- Maintain a clean organized work area.
Safety and Health – Responsible for reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position.
Must be able to lift/exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 30 pounds of force regularly in moving objects. Positions in this class require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, and lifting; dependent on the assignment. The ability to distinguish colors is required.
RECOMMENDED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Skills working with vehicle electronics, wiring electronics, and implementing custom design retrofits.
- Prior experience in the automotive or electrical installation industry is preferred, but not required.
